**About the position**
The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) invites qualified individuals to apply for the IT Specialist 4 (Network Engineer) position.
This position will be responsible for providing network services support to SBCTC.
**You will:**
* Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software and communication links.
* Analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training, where required.
* Demonstrate self-assurance when communicating directly with customers.
**About the position's closing date**
Recruitment and screening of applications will be ongoing until the position is filled. However, each round of applications will be considered within the following timeframes:
* May 15 through Monday, May 28: Round one applications will be reviewed and considered first. If there is no successful candidate selected from interviews, we will move on to the next round until a successful candidate has been selected.
* May 29 through Sunday, June 24 (if needed): Round two applications for consideration.
* June 25 through Sunday, July 8 (if needed): Round three applications for consideration.
* Administration of a variety of network equipment such as firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), network routers, switches, wireless access points, and VOIP equipment -- from Cisco, Juniper, etc.
* Application of security updates and software patches in a timely manner, monitor network usage, assess the network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the company and its customers.
* Network planning recommendations to management.
* Assisting the team's lead team with the design and configuration of a prospective customer's network infrastructure.
* Installation and maintenance of data communication networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems.
* Setup and tear down of network infrastructures.
* Act as backup for, and cross train with, SBCTC Helpdesk.
* Participate in rotating, after hours/weekend on-call support.
* The ability to relocate equipment weighing up to 45 pounds.
* College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science plus 3 years equivalent work experience; Or network certification and 5 years equivalent work experience.
* 3 years of experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WLANs, WANs, VPNs, etc.
